The deadline for applying to the Spring 2008 Business Leader Development Program (BLDP) seminar is Monday, October 29, 2007, at 5 p.m. The spring seminar is titled Outsourcing, Technology, and Modern Business and will be taught by Dr. Snehamay Banerjee. The seminar will have multiple outside speakers that will either come to campus, or the students may travel to visit them at their places of business. Each application needs to be supported by two references, and the two reference letters must also be received by the October 29, deadline.         Any SBC student (or “transition SBC student” who while not officially admitted into the SBC yet has been given permission to take one or two SBC courses) is eligible to apply for the seminar, and the 3 credits earned from the seminar can count as a business elective. A student can take the seminar without completing any of the other requirements for the BLDP. LIBRARY

Do you need scholarly peer-reviewed academic business journal articles for your research paper on a company, and industry, a management topic?  Or do you want to follow the latest  trends noted in an industry  trade or professional magazine?  The quickest way to find these is using Business Source Premier, the index to articles that the Rutgers Libraries subscribes to for you.  You can frequently find the full-text of the articles as well in this database, and if not, you can use the Search for Article button to see if Rutgers makes them available from another source.  Also remember you can always request a copy from another location using the Article Delivery button in IRIS or the Interlibrary Loan feature under More Options on the Robeson Library homepage.  The articles will come to your desktop within a few days in most cases.  You can use all this from off-campus or home as well by clicking on the yellow Not Logged In button on the library homepage before you begin your search.

If you need help using any of the library resources, or finding information, contact your Business Librarian at the Robeson Library:  Theo Haynes, haynes@camden.rutgers.edu or (856) 225-2838.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

The Ecommerce Society Invites Students Seeking Fun, Friends, and Facts on IT to Join

The ecommerce society kicked off the new year with its first meeting on Wednesday September 26th. The society is open to all interested students. It is most relevant to those in the ecommerce specialization, but it’s a great networking opportunity for those of you who are majoring in accounting, management, and marketing, too.

The ecommerce society is dedicated to helping you network with ecommerce professionals; prepare for a career in ecommerce and IT; and learn hands-on approaches to developing Web presences for businesses in a fun and friendly atmosphere that fits around members’ work and school schedules. Some officer positions are still open, and taking a leadership position in the society is a wonderful way to demonstrate your abilities to future employers.

Please join us at our next meeting in early October. We are planning an exciting year of hands-on workshops, career-related events, and guest speakers from ecommerce and IT. For more information, contact Kate Rutkowski at katerut@camden.rutgers.edu or the faculty advisors Dr. Ken Kendall at kendallk@crab.rutgers.edu  or Dr. Julie Kendall at

kendallj@crab.rutgers.edu. We look forward to seeing you soon!
