CAREER TIP: Expanding Your Knowledge of Business

As a college student and business major it is extremely important that you continue to expand your knowledge of the business world beyond the classroom.  Just a few ways to accomplish this:

  • Read the Various Business Journals in print or on line.  Examples: Philadelphia Business Journal(available at the Career Center ; New Jersey Business or the Wall Street Journal, Check out the local newspapers, especially the Business Sections or business magazines like Business Week, Forbes / Fortune Magazines.

  • Check out the Rutgers On-line Career Library (http://cc.camden.rutgers.edu/studentsNEWexploring/CareerInformationResources.html) You’ll find a variety of career and industry guides, career profiles and employer information just a click away.  The password is “rutgersonlinelibrary”

  • Talk to business professionals in various industries.  Use the Alumni Career Network where you will find over 375 Rutgers business graduates from many business fields willing to give you an inside perspective of their careers and industries.
