II. YOUR SKILLS AND MOTIVATIONS FOR THE COURSE/TRIP

1. Students will be able to select among topics related to various aspects of South African business, including the challenge of providing products and services to all demographic sectors of society, including the “bottom of the pyramid” in communities where people live at the lowest economic level.  There are also opportunities to study consumer attachments to possessions and their buying habits as they encounter materialistic values when moving between cultural groups. Additional topics include public policy issues such as homelessness, management initiatives such as those concerning Black Empowerment efforts, and government initiatives with businesses to create jobs and stimulate foreign direct investment. What interests, knowledge, skills, talents, and experiences do you have that relate to the overarching theme of our course?

Non Refundable Deposit and Payment Policy: Since the trip is limited to 24 students and we need to make flight, hotel and tour reservations that are non-refundable, a non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due no later than Friday, December 19, 2011. This deposit is not refundable under any circumstances. Details about how to make that payment will be provided to students admitted to the course.
