PROFILE

Dr. Sungsoo Kim is Professor of accounting at Rutgers School of Business at Camden, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Professor Kim's teaching and research interests focus on the role of accounting information in equity valuation, financial statement analysis, corporate investing and financing, and earnings management. His research has appeared in respected scholarly journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Economics and Business, Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting, and Journal of Operation Research Society.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim attended schools in Seoul, received a B.A. from the Chung-ang University in 1980. After a brief sojourn to private sector in Seoul and the Middle East, Dr. Kim relocated to New York to pursue graduate education and earned his MBA and Master of Philosophy from Bernard M. Baruch College in 1988 and 1990 respectively, and a Ph.D. in accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College, CUNY in 1993.

Dr. Kim began his teaching career as an instructor in 1992 with Herbert Lehman College in New York City. Before joining Rutgers in 1998, Professor Kim taught at the University of Minnesota, Duluth for 5 years, where he was recognized as the faculty member of the year in 1994 and in 1998.

Dr. Kim and his wife, Eunjee, have one daughter and reside in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
